Foundation Sponsored Scholarships
- Academic Excellence Scholarship (AES)
The Academic Excellence Scholarship was established for the purpose of attracting to ACC the area.s most academically talented high school graduates by offering them a generous scholarship based solely on academic merit. The AES scholarship has been in existence for approximately 15 years.
Award: the AES scholarship covers the cost of full tuition for up to four consecutive semesters. For the 2007-2008 academic year, the AES scholarship will provide $1,565 per semester for a total award of $3,130 for the year.
Requirements: in order to qualify for an AES scholarship, high school seniors must meet two of the following three requirements by the end of their junior year in high school:
- rank in the top 10% of their class
- have an SAT or PSAT score of at least 1200 or an ACT score of at least 27
- have a high school average of at least 90
Award Process:
1. In January, the ACC Foundation Office sends a letter accompanied by a nomination form to guidance counselors to each eligible school asking them to submit the names of seniors who meet the established criteria for the AES scholarship.
2. In March, information about the AES scholarship is sent to students who have been nominated along with a letter from the president of the Foundation congratulating them on being nominated for the scholarship. Students are advised to complete and return the scholarship acceptance form by June 1st indicating their desire to take advantage of the scholarship offer.
3. Students who submit the completed form by the deadline are then sent a letter confirming the scholarship award and again advising them of the requirements they must meet to maintain the scholarship once they have enrolled at ACC.
Eligible High Schools: Guidance Counselors from the high schools listed under the following five countries may nominate students for the AES scholarship:
- Warren: Bolton, Glens Falls, Hadley-Luzerne, Johnsburg, King's School, Lake George, North Warren, Queensbury, Warrensburg
- Washington: Argyle, Cambridge, Fort Ann, Fort Edward, Granville, Greenwich, Hartford, Hudson Falls, Salem, Whitehall
- Saratoga: Ballston Spa, Corinth, Saratoga Central Catholic, Saratoga Springs, Schuylerville, South Glens Falls, Stillwater
- Hamilton: Indian Lake
- Essex: Minerva
- ACC Foundation Scholarship
The ACC Foundation Scholarship was established in order to provide financial assistance to students who have financial need but do not qualify for federal or state assistance through either the Pell or TAP programs.
Award: The Foundation provides $14,000 per semester annually, which supports 28 individual awards of $500 per semester. Students who maintain their eligibility in the Fall semester receive the same $500 award for the Spring semester.
Requirements: Applicants for the ACC Foundation Scholarship are required to complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form and the ACC Financial Aid Supplement form and submit some additional information as requested by the Financial Aid Office.
Award Process: The Office of Financial Aid decides on the eligibility of candidates and selects recipients based on unmet financial need.
- Working Scholars Scholarship
The Working Scholars Scholarship is intended to make a college education financially possible for individuals who are employed either on a full or part-time basis.
Award: The Foundation makes $1,000 available annually to support this scholarship, which provides individual awards of up to $500 for full-time students (12 credit hours per semester) and a minimum of $75 per semester for part-time students (three credit hours per semester).
Requirements: To be eligible for the Working Scholars Scholarship, individuals must be:
- gainfully employed a minimum of 20 hours per week
- be a minimum of 24 years old
- enroll in at least 3 credit hours per semester
Award Process: Candidates are required to complete an application form and submit their application to the ACC Foundation. The Foundation.s Scholarship and Awards Committee will select recipients based upon the criteria listed above.
