SBUS 115 - Budgets And Forecasts For Small Business
Small businesses often fail due to lack of financial planning and cash. The course targets those individuals whose businesses are struggling, those who plan to start a business, as well as those interested in financial planning. Have you ever wondered where your money goes, and how you can control your cash? This course will provide a basic understanding of budgets, cash flow and forecasting. Small business owners need to harness their resources through financial planning. Budgets are the foundation of every financial plan, whether you need a loan, or just to see how you are doing now and 12 months down the line. The course will highlight different ways to formulate budgets, focus on cash flow and cash projections as well as overall forecasting and strategic plans. This class has no prerequisites, but some knowledge of Excel will be helpful. *Sorry, we cannot honor audits for this course.
SBUS 116 - ServSafe Food Safety Certification Workshop
Recently passed New York State legislation (S02328) mandates that all food service establishments which handle, cook, store, serve, deliver, remove, and dispose of food will be required to have one ServSafe certified individual on staff.ServSafe Food Safety workshops will provide the mandatory certification to individuals who successfully complete the 9-hour program. Once issued, certification is valid for 5 years. Note: Students need to bring lunch for "working lunch."
SBUS 118 - Bartending/Mixology Certification Program
This course will introduce and prepare the student to become a bartender in the Hospitality Industry. You will be given all the basic training associated with bartending. The class will concentrate on the student that has limited experienced with mixology. A Certificate will be given at the conclustion of the class. Some classes are hands-on and will take place at area restaurants. SBUS 119 - Create And Take Your Small Business Plan
This class is designed for business owners/managers or prospective owners/mangers who are interested in creating a plan for success. The participant will walk away from this class with his or her custom busniness plan in hand. Whether you intend to present this plan to a banker for financial consideration or choose to use it as a compass for future business decisions, your small business plan will be an invaluable tool. Lessons will guide the participant through all eight sections of the business plan. The instructor will encourage students to complete one section per week. Students will be encouraged to complete one section each week. Participants will be given the opportunity to get their plan reviewed during each class meeting. The class will utilize a computer program to aide in the overall design of the plan and basic computer skills are important. The purchase price of the computer program is included in the class fee. A basic understanding of business concepts and money management is recommended.
