This research guide was originally created for ACC's International Studies trip to Greece and Turkey, but can be used for art, archeology
or travel destination research on these countries.

The Greeks: Crucible of Civilization http://www.pbs.org/empires/thegreeks/ This site presents an introduction to ancient Greek history,
culture, politics, art, and warfare. There is a detailed timeline covering 1200 B.C. to 337 B.C. The Greeks Interactive contains an interactive map,
information about life in Athens, and ancient Greek language lessons. The Acropolis Experience includes a film clip about the Parthenon. Use the
site index for easier navigation. Educational resources are also included.

Metis: A QTVR Interface for for Ancient Greek Archaeological Sites http://www.stoa.org/metis/ A collection of QuickTime virtual reality
tours of many Greek ruins, including the Acropolis, Delphi, Troy, and many more. Movies allow users to virtually walk through these sites; each
has a link to more information and some have floor plans of the ruins. Requires QuickTime plug-in.

Perseus Digital Library http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/ Digital library of resources for the study of the ancient world. Originally begun with
coverage of the Archaic and Classical Greek world, has now expanded to Latin text and tools, Renaissance materials, and Papyri. Contains
hundreds of texts by the major ancient authors and lexica and morphological databases and catalog entries for over 2,800 vases, sculptures,
coins, buildings, and sites, including over 13,000 photographs of such objects.

history, military, culture and arts of the Ottoman Empire." The site features illustrated essays on Turkish history topics including military
campaigns, Ottoman sultans, harems, and calligraphy. Also includes maps, a glossary, a chronology, and a bibliography. In English and Turkish.

D.C., this site includes basic facts about the country, including its regions, flag, national anthem, and more. The political and policy area includes
the Turkish constitution and provides information on Turkey's branches of government. Also included are sections with the latest news, political,
cultural, business, economic, and tourist information.
