What ACC Students Say
Helpful Hints from Successful Online Students
| Log in as much as possible, that way you can keep up on what is going on and who is saying what. | |
| Don't let things go to the last minute. You never know when you are going to run into technical difficulties or when the lines are going to get jammed up. | |
| Stay ahead of the work itself, if you fall behind it will be really hard to get caught up. Allow yourself plenty of time to do the readings and the assignments themselves. Especially on test weeks, the regular work plus the tests is a lot so, stay on top of it. | |
| Don't be afraid. The on line work isn't that bad. It can be a bit intimidating at first but just relax. There are a lot of people to help out with questions and problems. The SLN help line is pretty quick at getting back to you. | |
| Have fun. It is very cool to be at school this way! Relax, take a deep breath, and have a great semester! | |
| More advice from other experienced online students: | |
| Don't be intimidated. This course is work, but so is any other. Jump right in as soon as the course opens up and you'll get use to how it works within a few days. If you put it off, you will only convince yourself that you can't do it when in actuality anyone can. | |
| If you prefer to sit in the back of a room and hear a lecture, this online course is not for you, get out now! | |
| To be successful in an online course you must be an interactive learner. | |
| Plan to write more and say more than you have previously done in any other regular classroom setting. | |
| Put in what you expect to get out. If you expect nothing, do nothing. If you expect a good grade, do something that will make me feel you . . . deserve it.(Student writing from professor's point-of-view) | |
