IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR THE FALL 2016 SEMESTER

Effective for the fall, 2016 semester all students borrowing federal loans will receive their first disbursement during the 5th week of classes.

This change has been implemented to decrease the need for required financial aid adjustments resulting from enrollment changes/reduced credits.  The intention is to prevent overpayments to students who will then be charged a bill at a later date to recover funds refunded based on incorrect enrollment.  For additional information about what this change may mean to you, please click here.

Please contact the Financial Aid Office at (518) 743-2223 or at finaidoffice@sunyacc.edu with any questions.

New York will pay your loan bills for two years

New York State is implementing a new loan forgiveness program called "Get on Your Feet" which aims to help out grads who are struggling to pay down their federal loan debt after graduation.  If you graduated after December, 2014 you may qualify.  For more information on the program and how to apply click here.

Important changes to the FAFSA are coming!

Beginning with the 2017-18 academic year, the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be available earlier, allowing students and their families to complete the FAFSA on October 1st rather than January 1st.  Also, as a result of this earlier filing date, the FAFSA will use income information from two years prior to the academic year instead of the previous year.  This is being referred to as 'prior-prior year'.  For instance, families will report their 2015 income for the 2017-18 academic year.

Below is a summary of the changes:

These changes allow students and their families to apply for aid earlier, offer families extra time to complete the FAFSA, and mean a strong possibility of using the IRS Data Retrieval Tool to populate tax data on the FAFSA.  It also means some colleges may be able to provide earlier financial aid packages to students, giving students more time to make enrollment decisions.

For more information, see Students and Parents: What You Need To Know About The 2017-18 FAFSA.  Please contact the Financial Aid Office at 518-743-2223 or finaidoffice@sunyacc.edu with any questions.
