Business Central is SUNY Adirondack’s one-stop hub for business collaboration, expanding the world of work for students and graduates. Located in Adirondack Hall, the department hosts workshops and events focused on the needs of local businesses, provides tools and resources to start-ups, and coordinates with economic development programs such as Start-Up NY and Innovate 518. 

For students, the Office of Business Central office provides a suite of career readiness services including information on job search strategies, resume writing, and interview skill building.

For employers, we provide educational workshops and opportunities to connect with students through our job posting service and career-focused events as well as the opportunity to connect with faculty regarding academic internships. 

For alumni and the community, Business Central is SUNY Adirondack’s one-stop hub for business collaboration, expanding the world of work for students, graduates, and the communities of Warren, Washington and Saratoga County.

For faculty, our connections with the business community enable us to provide experienced guest speakers, resources for research projects, internships, and exposure to the start-up environments offered through our economic development partnerships.

STUDENTS

Connect with Career Readiness Services and Employment Opportunities

The team at Business Central has a significant record of accomplishment of coaching and developing talent for career success. The services provided are geared toward helping students see their potential, access opportunities, and build confidence through the job search process. 

One on one meetings are available for students to learn about job opportunities, create a job search strategy, develop or refine a resume, create a LinkedIn profile, practice interviewing, and learn impactful networking tips. 

Our workshop series bring community and business leaders onto campus for engaging presentations on highly relevant topics for emerging and existing businesses. Each event also offers an opportunity for networking which is a critical element of any job search in today’s economy. Students can attend events, learn from business leaders, and develop relationships that will open doors to future career opportunities.  

Job Fairs and Employer Showcases bring local employers on campus for events that highlight current and future job opportunities. This enables students to access to human resources and functional managers for exploratory conversations and resume review. Some events feature on-campus interviewing. 

Access our online tool, College Central Network for jobs listed directly with SUNY Adirondack by employers primarily in Warren, Washington and Saratoga counties. All services are available 24 hours, 7 days a week. You will need to activate your account on this site before you can view the job listings. Once registered you may build a resume with Resume Builder, upload a resume file, review job search history, receive emails about programs, services, and job related topics.

Work Study: College Central Network Postings

Federal Work-Study provides part-time jobs for undergraduate and graduate students with financial need, allowing them to earn money to help pay education expenses. The program encourages community service work and work related to the student's course of study.

Please Note: Students must be approved for work study through Financial Aid before applying and being considered for any SUNY Adirondack Work Study position. If you are unsure if you have been awarded please contact Financial Aid at 518.743.2223 or finaidoffice@sunyacc.edu.

Step 1: Accept your work study offer by logging into Self Service Banner (SSB)

  • Go to the Financial Aid tab
  • Click on the Award Menu link
  • Click on Award for Aid Year & select the most recent aid year
  • Go to the Accept Award Offer tab & select accept in the drop down box for each semester

Step 2: View job postings via the College Central Network

  • Scroll down to students
  • Create an account & sign in
  • Look for the Search “My School’s Jobs” tab on the left side of the screen
  • In the “View Jobs by Keywords” field, type in: “SUNY Adirondack Work Study” for work study awarded via Financial Aid. Please be sure to use quotations.

Step 3: Log into SSB

  • Go to the Student tab
  • Click on the Student Employment link
  • Open the New Student Employee Orientation: review the content carefully to ensure you understand your rights and responsibilities as a student employee of SUNY Adirondack
  • Click on New Student Employee Orientation Acknowledgement & hit submit
  • Complete all paperwork & submit to Human Resources in Washington Hall: employee protocol, workforce confidentiality, I9, W-4, IT-2104 and direct deposit if you wish to initiate automatic deposits of your earnings

Making Connections Work

Business Central is SUNY Adirondack’s one-stop hub for business collaboration, expanding the world of work for students and graduates. We are proud to serve the Warren, Washington, and Saratoga County region with a range of services designed to foster meaningful dialog around business and employment opportunities. 

Our workshop series bring community and business leaders onto campus for engaging presentations on highly relevant topics for emerging and existing businesses. Each event offers an opportunity for networking to expand business relationships in a meaningful way.

Start-Up ADK is an educational series offered each Fall and Spring semester designed for people starting their own business. Participants learn from local experts to gain the skills necessary for business success. Sessions include Marketing, Human Resources, Business Insurance, and Legal Resources. Offered in partnership with Warren and Washington County, graduates of the program are eligible to apply for business loans. EMPLOYERS

Business Central is the hub for business topics from expanding a workforce, to starting a business, to identifying economic development programs and connections. Located in Adirondack Hall, the department: 

  • Hosts workshops and events focused on the needs of local businesses
  • Provides tools and resources to start-ups
  • Coordinates with economic development programs such as Start-Up NY and Innovate 518

Job Posting service is provided through College Central Network where employers can post Employment, Internship and Volunteer opportunities. Posts are accessible to registered Students, Alumni and Community Residents.

Once registered and approved, employers can post at their convenience 24 hours a day 7 days a week. In addition, employers have the opportunity to search resumes that are posted on the system.
