Welcome
to our town!
The community of
Glens Falls is small and proud. Like many "up-state N.Y." towns,
we have a rich cultural and industrial past that began because of our
location along the Hudson River corridor. In the late 18th century, Glens Falls was originally
known as "The Corners" -- the name describing the convergence of the north-south and
east-west crossroads through the bustling hub of activity at the
"bend in the river."
Through the research efforts of volunteers at the Chapman Historical Museum,
a comprehensive Internet site of the history of Glens
Falls is being continually developed. It is our hope that using primary
documents, public records and oral histories from extensive local
resources, an in-depth view of the physical and cultural growth of Glens
Falls will be understood. Please
look further as we invite you to join us
in our town!
