The following article was found in the March 8, 1884 issue of the Glens Falls Morning Star newspaper found on microfiche at the Crandall Library.
The roller skating craze is invading the very precincts of our homes; it distracts the business man, and has completely upset the usually demure housewife and maidens. One of the effects of this craze was seen in a Glen Street store yesterday, when a heavy-weight clerk experimented on a pair of new skates; lost his equilibrium and sat down unceremoniously in the presence of some lady customers.
