ACC Trustees Honor Mary-Elizabeth FitzGerald (Nov. 03, 2009) -

QUEENSBURY – The Adirondack Community College Board of Trustees honored outgoing trustee Mary-Elizabeth FitzGerald of Glens Falls October 22 with the presentation of a plaque to celebrate her eleven years on the board.

FitzGerald announced her intention to resign from the board in September, citing family commitments. Her term expires in June 2010. Queensbury resident Patricia Pietropaolo, former dean of academic affairs at ACC, has been appointed to serve the remainder of FitzGerald’s term.

The board resolution, signed by board chair R. Harry Booth, honored FitzGerald for her service as board secretary (2001-2003) and chair of the board (2003-2007) and praised her for her “intelligence, grace, compassion, style and wit” in leading the board through the process of selecting Dr. Ronald C. Heacock to succeed Dr. Marshall Bishop as president of ACC.

FitzGerald had served as executive director of the Tri-County United Way for 12 years and was active in a member of civic groups, including the Hyde Collection, the Glens Falls Rotary and Warren County Health Services.
