ACC Foundation Completes Capital Campaign; Exceeds $2.5 Million Goal (Dec. 03, 2009) -

QUEENSBURY, NY – Adirondack Community College Foundation officials announced today that the College succeeded in raising the remaining $2.5 million toward construction of the $7.5 million J. Buckley Bryan, Jr., ACC ’87, ’94 Regional Higher Education Center.

In meeting the Dec. 1 deadline, the Foundation met the eligibility standards set by the Michigan-based Kresge Foundation for an additional $350,000 matching grant. The board meeting today officially completes the Capital Campaign for construction of the 19,000 square-foot facility that opened in January.

“We are overjoyed,” said Joseph Cutshall-King, vice president for institutional advancement at ACC. “The pledge by Buck Bryan to match every dollar donated in the final two months certainly helped us reach our fund-raising goal.”

J. Buckley “Buck” Bryan, Jr., president of the ACC Foundation Board of Directors and a major donor to the facility that bears his name, was confident the community would come through.

Bryan had already donated over $1.5 million toward the Center’s construction and spurred on donors down the stretch by agreeing to match every dollar donated to the Regional Higher Education Center Capital Campaign over the course of the last two months of the campaign, up to $100,000. Bryan’s matching pledge can be largely credited for a surge of last-minute donations from local individuals and organizations.

The awarding of the Kresge Foundation Challenge Grant will help the College in future fund-raising efforts, and current and future ACC students will benefit greatly from this effort.

SUNY Plattsburgh and Empire State College offer advanced degrees through classes at the Regional Higher Education Center, and Paul Smith’s College will begin offering a Hotel, Resort and Tourism Management degree program in January.
