College Lecture Series Feb. 2: NEH Grants for Community College Faculty
QUEENSBURY – SUNY Adirondack English professors Jane Arnold and Courtney Reid will present a talk, “NEH Grants for Community College Faculty,” on Thurs., Feb. 2 at 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Miller Auditorium, Dearlove Hall, on the SUNY Adirondack campus in Queensbury.
The National Endowment for the Humanities gives grants to community college faculty for week-long summer workshops. The grant stipend of $1200 is intended to cover expenses. Reid spent a week in Savannah, Georgia, exploring the slavery/black culture in the South and Barrier Islands. Arnold spent a week in Asheville, NC, studying the history and art of Black Mountain College. The presentation will cover how to apply for grants and the presenters’ experiences.
Jane Arnold and Courtney Reid are both associate professors of English at SUNY Adirondack. Each has a wide variety of academic and research interests.
The presentation is part of SUNY Adirondack’s College Lecture Series and is sponsored by SUNY Adirondack’s Professional Development Committee. The public is invited and admission is free. The talk will last about an hour.
The College Lecture Series offers talks by SUNY Adirondack faculty on a variety of topics and contemporary issues.
