Free tax return preparation at SUNY Adirondack March 12
(QUEENSBURY, NY – March 3, 2014) – The Tri-County United Way VITA Coalition is sponsoring a Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program, designed to offer free income tax return filing assistance for qualifying individuals and households, on Wednesday, March 12, at SUNY Adirondack.
Appointments for tax return assistance will be offered from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Washington Hall, Room 131. Appointments can be made by calling 1-800-211-5128.
To qualify for the program, families or individuals must have household incomes under $50,000. Trained community volunteers can help taxpayers with special credits such as Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit if they qualify.
In addition to tax return assistance, free electronic filing (e-filing) will be offered. Individuals taking advantage of the e-filing program will receive their refunds in half the time compared to the filing of paper returns, and even faster if refunds are directly deposited.
With locations in Queensbury, Wilton, and online, SUNY Adirondack is a growing campus of the nation’s largest university, the State University of New York. SUNY Adirondack serves students via its credit and Continuing Education programs.
