Director of Business Central

This dynamic, results-driven person will possess a familiarity with entrepreneurship and small businesses and/or have experience as an entrepreneur or business owner. They must possess the administrative and management skills required to launch and sustain operations of a new and forward-thinking center. This individual will be responsible for promoting the success of Business Central programs and services and identifying and securing opportunities for growth. The Director of Business Central will work to create excitement and energy around this new center by developing key partnerships, delivering innovative programming and helping to instill an entrepreneurial mindset in the College community. The Director of Business Central reports to the Assistant Dean for Continuing Education & Workforce Innovation.

  • Develop programming to support entrepreneurs and small businesses in Warren, Washington and Saratoga Counties
  • Seek out and establish synergistic relationships with individuals and organizations that support entrepreneurship and small businesses
  • Organize workshops, seminars and other special events related to entrepreneurship
  • Develop recommendations for credit and non-credit programming
  • Perform outreach and networking to drive awareness of SUNY Adirondack efforts in supporting entrepreneurship and small businesses in the region
  • Assist in development of public and private grant proposals and/or other fundraising efforts to support program costs
  • Lead and supervise Business Central staff
  • Oversee student workplace readiness efforts including the job and internship placement activities managed by the Coordinator for Career Connections
  • Collaborate with Marketing Department to develop and manage promotional and outreach efforts in support of Business Central programming and services
  • Identify and secure equipment and materials to support programming and services
  • Establish systems for intake, support, referral and follow-up with Business Central students, alumni and clients
  • Collaborate with on-campus partners to integrate existing programming in support of entrepreneurship and small businesses into Business Central
  • Oversee SUNY Adirondack’s STARTUP NY program
  • With College leadership, develop a plan for Business Central operations, including key milestones, deliverables, outcomes and reporting requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or relevant business experience in agriculture, healthcare, business ownership or entrepreneurship etc. preferred  
  • Progressive responsibility in a leadership role, 3 years minimum, 5 years preferred,
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with all standard MS Office products
  • Aptitude for and/or experience with fundraising or grants writing
  • Demonstrable initiation and creativity
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues, students and other diverse constituencies


$60,000 - $67,000 range
