Pre-Environmental Science and Foresty

These programs are designed for those students who ultimately desire a B.S. degree in the environmental sciences and/or forestry from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) - an upper division graduate center.

After the first two years of study at Adirondack Community College, transfers to ESF may apply to a variety of programs at Syracuse which include the biological sciences (botany and forest pathology, entomology, zoology, wildlife biology, silics, pest management); chemistry (natural and synthetic polymers, biochemistry and natural products, environmental); forest engineering; paper science and engineering; wood products and engineering; forestry (resource management, forest resource science, management science, environmental education and communications, urban forestry, world forestry, applied resource management); landscape architecture; and environmental studies.

Students planning to transfer should follow the program requirements in consultationwith our Pre-Environmental Science and Forestry campus advised for selection of electives which vary according to the curriculum at ESF. The pre-ESF advisor will also assist students in selecting appropriate general education courses which will satisfy ACC's graduation requiements and ESF's general education transfer requirements.

Sucessful graduates of Adirondack Community College's Pre-Environmental Science and Forestry Cooperative Transfer Program generally gain admission to the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry with full junior clas status.

E.S.F. Transfer - Chemistry
Recommended ACC Program: Liberal Arts and Science/Mathematics - Science A.S. degree.

Transfer Course Requirements: BIO 111, 112; CHM 111, 112, 203, 204; CIS 125 or 126; ENG 101; ENG 107 or 108; MAT 131, 132; PHY 111, 112; 15 credits general education electives (3 credits each from American History, the Arts, Other World Civilizations, Social Science, and Western Civilization).

E.S.F. Transfer - Construction Management and Wood Products Engineering
Recommended ACC Program: Liberal Arts and Science/Mathematics - Science A.S. degree.

Transfer Course Requirements: BIO 112; BUS 102; CHM 111; CIS 143; ECO 202; EGR 105; ENG 101; ENG 107 OR 108; MAT 127, 131, 132; 12 technical electives chosen in consultation with the pre-ESF advisor; 12 credits general education electives (3 credits each from American History, the Arts, Other World Civilizations, and Western Civilization).

E.S.F. Transfer - Dual Undergraduate Option in Forest Ecosystems Science

SPH 111; 12 credits general education electives (3 credits each from American History, the Arts, Other World Civilizations, and Western Civilizations).

E.S.F. Transfer - Environmental and Forest Biology

Recommended ACC Program: Liberal Arts and Science/Mathematics - Science A.S. degree.

Transfer Course Requirements: BIO 111, 112; CHM 111, 112, 203; CIS 125 or 126; ENG 101; ENG 107 or 108; MAT 131; PHY 111; 4 credits from CHM 204, MAT 132, PHY 112; 4 credits from BIO 205, BIO 212, MAT 125; 15 credits general education electives (3 credits each from American History, the Arts, Other World Civilizations, Social Science, and Western Civilization).

E.S.F. Transfer - Envinronmental Resources and Forest Engineering

Transfer Course Requirements: BIO 112, CHM 111, 112; CIS 143; ECO 202; EGR 105, 106, 207, 208; EGR 107 or EGR 109 or TEC 169 or TEC 170; ENG 101; ENG 107 or ENG 108; MAT 131, 132, 231, 232; 12 credits general education electives (3 credits each from American History, the Arts, Other World Civilizations, and Western Civilization).

E.S.F. Transfer - Environmental Studies

Recommended ACC Program: Liberal Arts and Science/Mathematics - Science A.S. degree.

Transfer Course Requirements: BIO 111, 112; CHM 111; CIS 125 or 126; ECO 201 or 202; ENG 101; ENG 107 or 108; GEO 101; HIS 104; MAT 131; PSC 102 or 103; 4 credits from CHM 112 or PHY 111; 6 credits electives; 9 credits general education electives (3 credits each from the Arts, Other World Civilizations, and Western Civilization).

E.S.F. Transfer - Forest Resource Management

Recommended ACC Program: Liberal Arts and Science/Mathematics - Science A.S. degree.

Transfer Course Requirements: BIO 111, 112, 205; BUS 102; CHM 111, 112; ECO 201 or 202; ENG 101; ENG 107 or 108; MAT 127, 131; PHY 111; SPH 111; 12 credits general education electives (3 credits each from American History, the Arts, Other World Civilizations, and Western Civilization).

E.S.F. Transfer - Forest Technology

This program is designed for those students pursuing the A.A.S. degree in forest technology from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. After one-year general studies program at ACC, the student will complete the degree requirements at the Wanakena campus at ESF: The following program is recommended for the year of study at ACC.

Transfer Course Requirements: BIO 111, 112; ECO 201 or 202; ENG 111; ENG 107 or 108; MAT 108 or 112 or 123 or 131; 10 elective credits*

*Selected in consultation with the pre-ESF advisor

E.S.F. Transfer - Landscape Architecture

Recommended ACC Program: Either Liberal Arts and Science/Mathematics - Science A.S. degree or Liberal Arts and Science/Humanities - Social Science A.A. degree.

Transfer Course Requirements: ART 106 or 107 or 208; ART 111 or 112; BIO 111, 112; ENG 101; ENG 107 or 108; MAT 108 or 112 or 123 or 127 or 131; PSH 111; TEC 169 or 170; 3 credits from EGR 107 or 109 or ART 102 or 121; 8 credits from CHM 105 or CHM 111 or GEO 101 or PHY 111; 9 credits general education electives (3 credits each from American History, Other World Civilizations, and Social Science).

E.S.F. Transfer - Paper Science and Engineering

Recommended ACC Program: Either Engineering Science A.S. degree or Liberal Arts and Science/Mathematics - Science A.S. degree.

Transfer Course Requirements: BIO 112, CHM 111, 112, 203, 204; CIS 143; ECO 201 or 202; EGR 105, 106; EGR 107 or 109 or TEC 169 or TEC 170; ENG 101; ENG 107 or 108; MAT 131, 132, 231, 232; 12 credits general education electives (3 credits each from American History, the Arts, Other World Civilizations, and Western Civilization).
