Liaision Librarians:
Most ACC librarians are liaison librarians. Liaison librarians are responsible for purchasing material in certain subject areas and keeping faculty updated on new materials. The librarians purchase material based on faculty requests, favorable reviews, current and balanced coverage in the collection, budget limits, appropriateness for a community college library, and other factors.
Please notify your liaison librarian if you:
- read a good review of material you think your students will use;
- will assign a new research topic so the library might purchase new material;
- see a gap in subject coverage in the library’s collection.
Media Librarian David Ofiara purchases all of the multimedia (non-book) material. Contact him at ext. 2484 or email him at ofiarad@sunyacc.edu for details.
A list of liaison librarians is on the ACC Faculty and Staff link.
Workshops for Faculty:
Contact ACC Reference and Instruction Librarian Joyce Miller or your liaison librarian if you'd like a librarian to present a workshop for a group of faculty. Topics can cover searching and evaluating Web sites, using specific article databases, reference databases, the online catalog and more.
Workshops may take several formats:
- customized workshops on specific research topics for your entire division;
- workshops for your division’s adjuncts;
- individual tutorial sessions in your office,
- library tours for new faculty members and
- consultations on your own research questions.
