ACC Library Mission

The Adirondack Community College Library is designed to further the college mission by providing students, faculty, staff and community with a variety of quality information, to support the academic programs of the college, and to promote lifelong learning skills. The Library faculty provide instructional support for the college.

Because of its direct relationship to the educational objectives of the college, the Library’s goals are:
  1. To provide access to local and global resources and services in all forms;
  2. To promote learning through intellectual inquiry, effective teaching with an understanding of diverse learning styles, critical thinking skills, and lifelong learning;
  3. To teach information skills necessary for intellectual inquiry. These include knowing how to:
    1. define and articulate the need for information.
    2. use the appropriate information tools,
    3. evaluate the information,
    4. synthesize and use the information effectively.
  4. To develop and implement the above services and programs in the context of the changing institutional, technological and fiscal resources and continually evaluate their effectiveness.
