Adventure Programming for Facilitators

This workshop is a comprehensive introduction to facilitating adventure activities and is ideal for educators, human service professionals, community leaders, counselors and coaches who are looking to implement adventure programs or facilitate adventure activities using low or high ropes course elements. Participants will engage hands-on in adventure activities including portable activities, low and high ropes course elements, and experience group processing skills. Workshop content includes:

• Portable Adventure activities using props and no props
• Low and High Ropes Course Elements
• Belay Skills
• Key concepts and core content of adventure based programming
• Challenge by Choice, Full Value Contract, Experiential Learning Cycle, and GRABBS Modality
• Introduction to set-up, sequencing, framing, and debriefing activities
• Introduction to Ropes Course safety considerations

Natural & Human History of the Hudson River Gorge

A unique opportunity to experience the Hudson River Gorge by engaging in a dynamic interdisciplinary course combining a two day, one night white water rafting expedition with expert interpretation of the natural, human and conservation history of the Hudson River. The course will include side hikes and guest lecturers from ACC.

Raquette River Canoe Expedition (Leave No Trace Trainer)

Leave No Trace Trainer Course
Raquette River - Long Lake to Tupper Lake

This is a unique expeditionary-based course combining a Leave No Trace Trainer certifying course with backcountry canoeing and outdoor leadership skills in a spectacular environment. This course is designed for educators, leaders, and conservationist who wish to teach Leave No Trace practices and ethics as well as enhance their outdoor leadership skills. Participants will receive in depth background on the Leave No Trace principles and guidance and practice in effective ways to present Leave No Trace to their clients. Successful completion of this course leads to a Leave No Trace Trainer Certificate.
