Accessibility Services
The Office of Accessibility Services and the Learning Specialist at Adirondack Community College are committed to providing equal educational opportunityto students with disabilities by ensuring equal access to all academic programs and facilities in accordance with:
The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA)
and
Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
The ADA and Section 504 provide protection for individuals with a physical or mental impairment which substantially limits that person in one of more major life activity, and any individual who "is regarded as" or "has a history of" such an impairment. Within post-secondary education, these laws further define and "otherwise qualified" individual as one who meets the academic and technical standards requisite to admission or participation in the College's programs and activities.
To qualify for accomodations, students must identify themselves as a student with a disability and provide the Accessibility Services Office with appropriate documentation. Guidelines for submitting documentation can be obtained from our office.
