Consultation Services
Systems Design, Equipment Specifications, Purchasing, Centralized Inventory, and Repair
Instructional Technology Services works and consults with faculty, administration, and vendors
to optimize learning environments by designing and creating instructional systems to fit campus needs. Examples
include sound systems, the closed circuit TV and satellite dish system, and multimedia classrooms throughout
the ACC campus. All campus media equipment purchasing is done through Instructional Technology Services.
New equipment for division-specific use should be included in the division technology plan and in the division
budget request. Please consult with ITS on budget items.
After equipment is approved, Instructional Technology Services purchases according to these
policies and standards:
- quantity discounts by pooling requests
- competitive bidding among vendors
- the best quality industrial - not consumer - equipment
- cross campus standardization
- longest life expectancy
- lowest longterm operation costs.
Relations with vendors and repair houses are carefully cultivated to insure ongoing support. Each piece of equipment
is centrally inventoried and tracked to insure maximum utilization and access for repair. Many repairs are performed in-house.
When that is not possible, items are sent back to the vendor or manufacturer. Very often we have back up equipment in order not
to interrupt the instructional process.
