Security FAQ

Many types of threats against computers exist. Viruses, Trojan horses, spyware, and malware all threaten your computer.s security. There are three steps you can take to prevent malicious attacks. Anti-virus software will scan your computer and email to check for threats before you download files to your PC. A firewall program blocks unauthorized communication to and from your PC to prevent a virus from spreading from someone else.s PC to yours. Typically, anti-virus and firewall software will come bundled together as one commercial product. Anti-spyware software scans your computer for cookies or other third-party software that secretly is loaded on your computer and causes popup ads, junk email (spam), or viruses to be downloaded on your computer. Finally, keep your operation system software up to date by downloading the periodic updates. Companies such as Microsoft and Apple will issue security updates which fix newly discovered flaws that may allow a malicious attacker access to your computer.
