Student Outreach System

The Student Outreach System (SOS) is designed to assist students who are experiencing barriers to academic success. Students referred to the SOS system will be contacted by the OASIS Center staff to develop. Together, we will help the student develop an action plan that will help increase the chances of being successful in the course(s) they have been referred for. Each action plan is individualized to ensure each student is connected with the services they need to reach their goals. Some common components of action plans are: intensive advisement, success skills training (study skills, note taking, learning styles, etc.), career planning, transfer counseling, personal counseling, and much more.

It is important for students to understand that referrals are in NO WAY a punishment. They allow us to reach out to students in need of a more personalized and intensive advisement process. This has shown to increase student success not only in the course in question, but in every other course they take during their collegiate career.
