ACC to Host Annual Spring College Night May 6 (Apr. 25, 2008) - QUEENSBURY - Adirondack Community College and the Adirondack Counseling Association will host the 2008 Spring College Night on Tuesday, May 6, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the ACC gymnasium. Admission is free.

Representatives from over 130 colleges and universities from across New York, New England and the eastern U.S. will be available to meet with prospective freshmen and transfer students to answer questions about entrance requirements, transfer policies, housing, financial aid, extracurricular activities and other aspects of campus life.

A list of participating colleges and universities can be obtained by calling the ACC Counseling Office at 743-2278.

ACC Bestows 2007-2008 Academic Excellence Awards (Apr. 24, 2008) - QUEENSBURY - Adirondack Community College recognized the academic achievements of its students during the past school year at the College’s fortieth annual Academic Excellence Awards ceremony held April 17.

ACC to Host Intermediate Photography Exhibit April 25 - May 1; Student Center Reception Scheduled for May 1 (Apr. 17, 2008) - QUEENSBURY, NY - Adirondack Community College will host “Shoot This,” a photography exhibit featuring the work of students in Sara Cutshall-King’s intermediate photography class from April 25 through May 1 in the Student Center lounge on the Bay Road campus.

A reception for the students will be held on Thursday, May 1, at 5:30 p.m. in the ACC Student Center. Refreshments will be provided by the ACC Faculty-Student Association.

This year, each student has chosen an independent theme to follow for the show and will be at the reception to discuss his or her work.

The exhibition features the work of students Ashley Sbuttoni of Albany, Jenna Battenhausen and Katrina Durnberger of Ballston Spa, Ben Garrett of Corinth, Michael Campbell and Sarah Esperti of Fort Ann, Chris Leroux of Glens Falls,
Eliza Pingree of Greenwich, Elizabeth Eisenhardt of Hadley, Crystal Holden of Lake George, Caryn Chandler of Porter Corners, Courtney Trybendis of Queensbury, Kyle Garrelts of Saratoga Springs, and Cheri Bordelon-Winn of Warren County.

WGFR’s SuperJam to feature Skinless; proceeds benefit the Orphan Grain Train (Apr. 17, 2008) - QUEENSBURY – Hardcore metal act Skinless will headline WGFR’s SuperJam ’08 at Northern Lights in Clifton Park on Saturday, April 26th.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. with the opening bands starting at 6:00 p.m. Tickets for the 16 and over show are on sale at the Northern Lights box office, all Ticketmaster outlets and online at www.ticketmaster.com and are priced at $10 in advance and $12 at the door the day of the show.

Skinless is a Capital District band that has toured internationally in support of four full-length CD’s and a concert-style documentary DVD. In 2002, Skinless performed during the Beast Feast tour in Japan alongside metal mega bands Slayer, Pantera and The Dillinger Escape Plan. The band’s current roster includes Joe Keyser on vocals, guitarist Noah Carpenter, bassist Jason Keyser and drummer Bob Beaulac.

Opening acts for SuperJam include Son of Mourning, Tyranize, Reinfecta and Re-Creation.

WGFR’s SuperJam is an annual fundraising concert produced and promoted by 92.7 WGFR, Adirondack Community College’s noncommercial FM radio station, and sponsored by the ACC Student Association the Adirondack Broadcast Association.

Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to the Orphan Grain Train, a volunteer organization that collects donations of clothing, medical supplies, food, Christian literature, and other aid for distribution to individuals in need throughout America and around the world.
