The ACC email system blocks about 250,000 spam messages a week. Should you nonetheless receive messages you regard as spam, don't simply delete them. Use the Groupware tool called DSPAM to manage spam. You train DSPAM to recognize spam based on what you send it. The more spam you send instead of deleting, the faster it will learn to recognize spam.
To send spam messages to DSPAM, follow these steps:
-
With the spam message open, click on the Forward command:
- Forward all spam messages to spam-yourACCusername.If your username is oakleya, then send it to spam-oakleya:

- Now Delete the original spam message in your Inbox.
Once DSPAM learns to recognize your spam, it places those emails in a quarantine folder. To check your spam statistics and quarantined email, go to https://www.sunyacc.edu/dspam/dspam.cgi. You will be prompted to login. You can also access the DSPAM Web site by going to the ACC home page / Inside ACC / Faculty portal / ACC spam software:

Email in the quarantine folder should be reviewed periodically. Delete mail you consider spam. Mail that is not spam should be delivered. If the Delete All button does not work, please contact the ACC Computer Help Desk (help@sunyacc.edu).
Please note: If you have been using the Blacklist feature of Groupware, you need to delete all those filters before starting to use Dspam. From the Mail / Inbox screen, select Options / Filters /Edit Your Filters, then select the filter and click Delete.
