Orientation:
Supplementary orientation for individuals with disabilities requiring physical orientation to the campus is provided in coordination with the Enrollment Management Office (Admissions). Please contact the Accessibility Services Office for further information.
An orientation for self-identified students requesting testing accommodations and support services through the Learning Specialist Office is offered at the beginning of each semester. Please contact the Learning Specialist Office for further information.
Informational, Referrals, Liaison and Advocacy:
The Accessibility Services Director and Learning Specialist will assist you in working with
community agencies, staff and faculty.
Academic Accommodations:
The Director of Accessibility Services will review a students documentation and will work
with the student to identify and establish appropriate academic accommodations. Each
semester, students requesting academic accommodations must meet with the Accessibility Services
Office to review course schedule, review needs and establish appropriate academic
accommodations.
Attendants, Interpreters, Note takers, Tutors, etc.:
The Accessibility Services Office works with local agencies to hire attendants and interpreters
and works within the college community to hire note takers and tutors. These services
serve as a support for students with disabilities.
Academic Advisement/Counseling:
Accessibility Services Director meets with students who are assigned advisees. In addition, the
students who are registered with the office may request advocacy assistance in working
with outside community agencies and to obtain general information regarding funding,
general career information and academic program opportunities.
Note takers:
The Accessibility Services Office hires note takers to assist students who are eligible to
receive note taker assistance. Paid and/or volunteer note takers provide the eligible
student with a copy of their classroom lecture notes.
Adults in Retraining:
The Accessibility Services Office works with outside agencies to provide retraining for adult
students. The Accessibility Services Office works with agencies such as The Employment and
Training Offices (JTPA), Vocational and Educational Services for Individuals with
Disabilities (VESID) and the Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped (CBVH) to
assist income eligible single parents, high school dropouts, dislocate workers, veterans,
and persons with disabilities.
Registration Assistance:
Priority registration is provided for continuing students with disabilities. Students can
utilize phone registration. The Accessibility Services staff will provide direct assistance to
students whose disabilities prohibit standing on line.
Test Accommodations/Proctoring:
If you are eligible to receive testing accommodations, such as: scribe, extended time,
separate location, you will need to work with the Learning Specialist to coordinate
services with the faculty.
Pre-enrollment Planning:
Prospective students should make an appointment to meet with the Accessibility Services Director
to determine services available and to determine which services meet their individual
needs, and will help to ensure a positive college experience.
Adaptive Equipment and Resources:
The Accessibility Services Office and the Learning Specialist Office have the following
equipment/resources available:

- Dragon Naturally Speaking-Dictation program
- Zoom Text
- Voice input/output system
- Enlarger
- Tape recorders
- 4-speed tape recorders/players
- TTY
- FM amplification system
- Large print materials
- Assistance with accessing textbooks on tape
Transportation:
The College provides information on the Greater Glens Falls Transit System and its regular
bus service to and from the college. In addition, the Greater Glens Falls Transit System
operates the FAME bus. This service provides transportation for individuals with
disabilities whose disability prohibits them from accessing the regular bus service. The
individual is responsible for making arrangements for FAME service and must provide
medical verification to the Glens Falls Transit System in order to receive services.
Disabled Student Services:
The Accessibility Services Office provides support services for individuals with documented
physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and psychological disabilities. To receive
services an individual must self-identify with the Accessibility Services Office and provide
appropriate documentation. This information is confidential and is securely maintained in
the Accessibility Services Office.
Accessibility:
The campus is equipped with handicap accessible automated doors, graded ramps and
elevators. All buildings except the gymnasium and Warren Hall are equipped with elevators.
The Scoville Building is equipped with amplified sound systems. A TTY phone is located in
