As the needs of the community change, so change the scope and nature of the courses, workshops and conferences offered by the ACC Center for Personal and Professional Development during any one semester.
Because ACC is in a very real sense a community college, the ACC Center for Personal and Professional Development is divided into program areas devoted to the various types of the diverse lifelong learning needs of the community-at-large. The purpose of these program areas, covering workforce development, computer training, and community outreach programs, is to provide the educational opportunities that people need in order to continue to grow and thrive both in their professional and personal lives. For many, lifelong learning has at one time or another become a requirement rather than an option. Accordingly, personal and professional development has become a vital and consistent component of ACC's educational offerings.
The ACC Center for Personal and Professional Development provides short-term, non-credit courses which meet the changing needs of business and industry and the community at large. In addition to our traditional students, we offer a Summer Enrichment program, a three-week program for children in grades 3 through 9.
The ACC Center for Personal and Professional Development is open twelve months, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Students may register by phone (518-743-2238), by fax (518-743-2318), by mail or in person. The ACC Center for Personal and Professional Development is located on ACC's main campus in Washington Hall. Many of our students test the academic waters by taking continuing education courses, which provide a relaxed learning environment without the pressures of tests, homework, and grades. These students may then decide to enter a more traditional academic program, leading to a college degree.
