Retirement Investing 101
William LoseyNo. 12018W
Total: $30.001 session
Tuition: $10.00Fee: $20.00
Thursday, Oct. 2, 2008, 6:30pm-8:00pm

What would you say if you knew that the return you earn on your money has little to do with your ability to pick good investments (security selection) or knowing when to buy or sell certain investments (market timing)? What would you say if you knew that the vast majority of the return you earn on your money can be attributed to how well you divide up your money among the major asset classes – stocks, bonds and cash (asset allocation)? When you realize that whether or not you achieve your financial goals will depend, in large part, on how well you position your assets, you’ll have to say it’s one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make.

Unfortunately, many people still believe that trying to “time” the market and picking the next “hot” investment are the keys to success in reaching their investment goals. In this 90-minute town hall style workshop, Bill Losey, CFP® will review the different asset classes, the influence of risk and emotions on asset allocation, and the magic bullet – diversification.

This non-credit certification program was developed for adults interested in volunteering as a coach in New York State for youth or adolescent sports teams outside of interscholastic athletics. This program will provide formal training designed to establish minimum unified coaching standards to improve the safety, conduct, developmental rationale and emotional well being of all participants (players, officials, coaches, and parents) in youth sports.

Every volunteer parent-coach wants to make youth sports a fond time to remember, for their team, for their families, and for themselves! It is one of the true benefits of coaching youth sports. But headlines shout about tension on playing fields, and they are accurate. Yet tension can be reduced when a coach knows the right way to approach the foreseeable (and unanticipated) issues in youth sports today. You’ll learn, as part of this program, that reducing tension is just one part of the challenge of coaching youth sports.

The program will consist of a three-hour on-site classroom session with a follow-up web-based WEB CT session and on-line exam.

Topics to be covered include:

• Establishing & maintaining sport civility and responsibility
• Putting players first
• The teaching and evaluation process

Upon successful completion of the program, participants will receive certification as “SUNY Certified Youth Coach.”
