Visual Arts Gallery / Student Art Exhibition

The Visual Arts Gallery, located in Dearlove Hall since 1984, schedules a variety of exhibitions throughout the year that emphasize creativity, vision and imagination.  Included are group and solo shows by artist of local, national and international reputation.  Each exhibition includes an informative and interpretive brochure.  A juried exhibition of Student art takes place at the end of the Spring Semester.

The Visual Arts Gallery offers a chance for students to become exposed to the works of artists from within, as well as outside of, the Lower Adirondack and Capital Regions. This even includes artists from other countries.  Receptions, musical performances, lectures and formal dialogues provide the opportunity for the sharing of ideas, opinions and responses that feed a sense of community as well as provide a link for the student to what lies beyond the academic life.

STUDENT ART AT SUNY ADIRONDACK

Each spring semester student art work is juried by artists and museum professionals for the Student Art Exhibition in the Visual Arts Gallery. Throughout the academic year students experiment with a variety of mediums such as photography, drawing, three-dimensional design, oil painting and watercolor painting.  Awards are given to four students for their outstanding artwork.  The four also exhibit their work during the fall in Albany for the SUNY Art Exhibition which highlights the work of student artists throughout the SUNY system.  The four students that will represent SUNY Adirondack during the Fall 2012 exhibition are: Russell Hilliard, Maureen Temple, Holly LeBihan and Alyssa Jackson.
