Advanced Placement
Graduates of practical nursing programs may earn credit for the first semester of the Nursing Program by successfully completing a challenge exam consisting of two written exams and a clinical challenge in the laboratory and hospital setting.

Nursing Curriculum
A new curriculum based on a caring competent model was implemented in 1996. Small group seminars are an important part of the new curriculum. Two credits of nursing electives are included in the curriculum plan.

Students choose from a variety of offerings including Pain Management, Humor in Nursing, Forensic Nursing, Group Process and Pharmacology.

Clinical practice areas include hospitals, community health care agencies, and long-term care settings.

Day and evening hours are used to schedule classes and clinical practice.

Joint Admission Agreement
ACC has a joint admission agreement with Plattsburgh State College. Nursing students who choose this option are guaranteed entry to upper division nursing courses at Plattsburgh if they maintain a GPA of 2.5

Plattsburgh State College offers many of their upper division nursing courses at ACC through teleconferencing.

Scholarships
Many scholarships are available specifically to nursing students, including the ACC Foundation Nursing Scholarship which is supported by nursing graduates of ACC
