SUNY Adirondack Named Scholarships and Awards

You are invited to direct a donation to the following established funds at the Foundation.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Rachael Patten at 518 743-2243 or pattenr@sunyacc.edu.

These funds have been established to meet the needs of various student constituencies on campus as both scholarships and awards related to financial need, leadership, major and/or program.  They have been created as memorial funds, as sponsored funds by a local business or association, and as sponsored funds by individuals. 

SUNY Adirondack Adventure Sports - Leadership & Management Scholarship – one $250 scholarship given to a second-year Adventure Sports major.

SUNY Adirondack Arboretum - This fund is maintained by the Foundation to preserve the planted trees and shrubs, purchase new plantings, and maintain the dedication plaques.  Emeritus Professor Dave Hodgson tends the Arboretum.

SUNY Adirondack Business Club Scholarship - one $100 award for a Business major with at least a 3.2 GPA who has earned 12 credits or more.

SUNY Adirondack Faculty Association Memorial Scholarship - four $250 awards for students with demonstrated financial need.

SUNY Adirondack Student Senate Scholarship - two $300 awards for first-year students; one who graduated from high school very recently and one who graduated from high school at least three years ago.

Adirondack Broadcast Association Scholarship - Awarded to Radio/TV Broadcasting majors.  Amounts vary according to funding.

Norman John Benack Memorial Scholarship - one $300 scholarship given to a second-year Music major; preference given to Hudson Falls High School graduates.

C.R. Bard Nursing Scholarship – five $1,000 awards for second-year Nursing majors.

Amy Carpenter Memorial Scholarship - one full tuition award for a second-year Warren/Washington County student studying in the human services field.

Annina M. Carter Memorial Scholarship – two $500 awards for a Liberal Arts/Math & Science major with a science concentration and financial need.  Preference for students pursuing biology or chemistry.

Madeline E. Chenier Nursing Memorial Scholarship – for an adult student majoring in nursing.  Amounts varies each year according to funding.

Christie’s Culinary Scholarship – one $500 award for a Culinary Arts or Food Service major with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Joseph A. Cutshall-King Scholarship – one $500 award for a female Computer Science or Liberal Arts – Math & Science major with demonstrated financial need

D’Ella Auto Group Scholarship - two $500 award for a Business Administration major.

Delta Kappa Gamma Education Scholarship - For a full-time student with a 3.0 GPA who plans to pursue an education degree/career and has successfully completed or is currently enrolled in EDU101.  Amount varies each year according to funding.

Every Woman’s Council/Harriet E. Patrick Memorial Scholarship - one $1,000 award for a female student who graduated from high school more than six years ago.

Fitzgerald Brothers Beverages Scholarship - two $250 awards; one for a Business Administration AS major; one for a Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship AAS major.

Four Winds-Saratoga Nursing Scholarship - one $300 award for a Nursing major; preference given to students working in a mental health setting or pursuing a career in mental health.

Shirley Fox Memorial Scholarship – up to six half-tuition awards for full-time second-year students with at least a 2.75 GPA and demonstrated financial need.

Freeman-McCormack Science Scholarship – one $1,000 award for a second-year, female Liberal Arts – Math & Science major with demonstrated financial need, preference for students who plan to study nutrition, biology or chemistry for their advance degree.

Glens Falls Elks Lodge #81 Scholarship - one $500 award for a first-year student from Warren or Washington County.

Glens Falls Women’s Bowling Association Scholarship - one $750 award for a current or past member, or relative of a member, of the Adirondack USBC Association, Inc., or a member of the SUNY Adirondack bowling team.

Penny Grossman Memorial Scholarship – one $300 award for a full-time Management, Marketing and Entrepreneurship AAS major with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Dennis Harris Scholarship – two $500 awards for a College Survival (HRD100) student; preference given to a returning adult student.

Dr. Robert L. Hutchinson Memorial Scholarship – one $500 award to a full or part-time adult student with a 3.0 GPA who served in a leadership or volunteer role for the college.

Michelle Lafontaine Nursing Memorial Scholarship - two $1,000 awards for a full-time Nursing major who is a graduate of Glens Falls, Lake George or Queensbury High Schools and demonstrates financial need.

William Lansing Memorial Scholarship - one $200 award for a second-year Liberal Arts major from Queensbury.

Gerald and Joanne Loftus Scholarship – one $500 award for a Liberal Arts Math and Science major.

Kathryn Malan Memorial Scholarship - one $400 award for a first-year student.

Roy J. McDonald GI Scholarship – one $500 award for full-time veteran of the Armed Forces or National Guard with preference for residents of Washington, Saratoga or Rensselaer counties (amount is pro-rated for part-time study).

Richard and Mary Merrill Scholarship – one $500 award for a student with demonstrated financial need.

Joey Mihalek Memorial Award – Full-time adult student with preference to a major in the health sciences and residency in Corinth. 

Mintz Parlin Scholarship – One $00 award to a student in health sciences with financial need.  Secondary consideration will be given to a music major who plans to complete a bachelor’s degree.

Dr. Amos J. Minkel, Jr. Memorial Scholarship – one $2,000 award for a full-time Liberal Arts/Math & Science major with a science concentration

Walter Moeller Memorial Scholarship – one $2,000 award for a full-time, second-year Engineering Science major with at least a 3.0 GPA who demonstrates financial need.  One $2,000 award for a first-year student majoring in engineering science.

Loretta Reardon Monahan Memorial Scholarship – one $1,000 award for an adult returning nursing major.

Charles E. Morris Memorial Scholarship - one $300 award for an Engineering Sciences major.

Ann Nash Scholarship – one $250 award for a female College Survival (HRD100) student.

Nursing Alumni Scholarship – one $500 award for a full-time nursing student.

Rick Patrick Scholarship - one $250 award for Math, Engineering or Computer Science major with at least a 3.2 GPA who has earned 12 credits or more.

PEO Memorial Award at SUNY Adirondack Scholarship - one $100 award for a female student.

Robin Louise and Sasha Pietropaolo Memorial Scholarship – one $2,000 award to a full-time female student majoring in a STEM field.

Thomas J. Prunty Memorial Scholarship – one $750 award for a second-year, returning adult student in one of the Business Division programs.

William T. Reilly Memorial Scholarship – one $500 award for a second-year Liberal Arts major who plans to pursue a career in education.

Gino Ruggi Scholarship – one $1000 award for a Nursing major who is a single parent from Warren or Washington counties who graduated from high school prior ten or more years ago and is a US citizen.

Sandra Schupp Memorial Nursing Scholarship – one $500 award for a Nursing major who demonstrates excellence in clinical skills and compassion.

Martha and Sanford Searleman Accounting Scholarship – one $200 award for a second-year Accounting major with a least a 3.0 GPA who demonstrates financial need.

Margaret T. Sherman Memorial Scholarship – one $500 award given to a full or part-time nursing major with preference given to an adult returning student.

Helen & Saul Silverstein Scholarship - one $250 award for a second-year Accounting major.

Frank J. Simione, Sr. Memorial Scholarship - one $100 award for a Culinary Arts or Commercial Cooking major.

Matt Smith Memorial – one $250 book award for a Culinary Arts Student.  

Marilyn Spanagel Memorial Scholarship – one $500 award for a Music or Media Arts major with at least a 3.0 GPA.

Norm Stahlman Washington County Association of Street & Highway Officials Scholarship - one $1,000 award for an Engineering Science major who graduated from a Washington County High School.

TCT Credit Union Scholarship - $500 award for a student with financial need.

Technology Partners Scholarship - $500 award for a student with financial need.

Kenneth and Alice (Brooks) Thomas Memorial Nursing Scholarship – One $700 award to a full-time 2nd year nursing major with a minimum of 28 credit hours and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Must be a graduate of Whitehall, Granville or Fort Ann High School.

Town Highway Superintendent’s Assoc. of Warren County – Two $2,000 awards to a student residing in Warren County and/or graduated from a Warren County high school who is studying civil engineering or construction technology at SUNY Adirondack and demonstrates financial need.

Tri-County Council of Vietnam Era Veterans and Gold Star Mothers Scholarships – varying awards for full- and part-time veterans or children of veterans who demonstrate financial need.

Upward Bound is College Bound – awards graduates of the SUNY Adirondack Upward Bound program who have been admitted to college upon graduation from High School.

USA Dance, Inc. Adirondack Chapter #3035 Scholarship – two $250 awards for performing arts students.

Dorothy Voorhees New York Federation of Home Bureaus Scholarship - one $500 award for a Nursing major from Warren, Washington or Saratoga Counties with a GPA of at least 2.80.

Marine Captain David Wallingford Scholarship – one $500 award for full- and part-time students who are currently in the Marine Corp Active, Reserves, or Veterans.  Additional funds are available to serve as book grants as needed.

Fran Walter ’77 Memorial – One $300 award to a SUNY Adirondack student with financial need and who is either a member of the college’s student senate, or who is majoring in business administration, entrepreneurship, accounting, or who has completed or registered for any 100 or 200 level political science course.

Warren County Council of Chambers Scholarships – two $500 awards for Hospitality and Tourism Management majors.

Washington County New York Federation of Home Bureaus Scholarship – one $500 award for a Nursing major from Washington County with a GPA of at least 2.80.

Wenk, Daly, Barthel Scholarship – one $500 award to a resident of Washington county demonstrating financial need.  Individuals will be considered who best demonstrate an understanding of the need in a free democracy for courageous and informed citizen participation.

Georgette Whiting Memorial Scholarship - one $500 award for a second-year Nursing major.

Eric W. Wilkins Memorial Scholarship – one $1,000 award for a student with demonstrated financial need and an interest in environmental studies.
