FAQs
The Registrar's office will confirm you meet requirements for graduation once final grades are posted at the end of the semester. In the meantime, students planning to graduate should:
- Log into Self-Service Banner to verify mailing address.
- Students' legal names will be on their diplomas. If a student has designated a chosen name, this will be in the commencement program; otherwise the legal name will be used.
- If a student wants to change their address or name, they should complete the appropriate form(s): Change of Address Form, Name Change Authorization Form, Chosen First Name Request Form.
Is there a graduation rehearsal scheduled?
No. When graduates check in at Heritage Hall, they will be lined up as they will proceed into the arena.
What time should I arrive?
Please check in at Heritage Hall by 10:15 a.m. the morning of Commencement.
Where do I go once I’m at the arena?
There will be greeters at the main door to point graduates and guests in the right directions. Graduates should check in at Heritage Hall.
Can I just show up for graduation?
No. Graduates must sign up in advance. Register for graduation.
Where do I purchase my cap and gown?
Caps and gowns are available for purchase and should be ordered immediately.
Can I decorate my cap?
Yes. The college encourages graduates to be creative and express themselves through their caps.
Are tickets required for the event?
No.
How many guests can each graduate bring?
Since SUNY Adirondack is holding Commencement 2023 in Cool Insuring Arena, the number of guests per graduate is not limited.
Where is Cool Insuring Arena located?
Cool Insuring Arena, commonly referred to as "CIA" or "the Civic Center," is located at 1 Civic Center Plaza in downtown Glens Falls. The building, long named Glens Falls Civic Center, is on Route 9, just south of the roundabout and just north of the bridge crossing the Hudson River into South Glens Falls and Saratoga County.
Where should guests park?
Parking around CIA is limited. Graduates can be dropped off in front of the main doors. Families can park in the nearby St. Mary’s Church parking lot or surrounding parking areas. The city also offers streetside parking.
Does the arena offer wheelchairs or walkers for guests?
Unfortunately, it does not.
Is there accessible seating for guests in the arena?
There are some reserved seats. The greeters/volunteers will assist guests to their seats.
