Position: Assistant Director for Accounting and Finance

Function: The Assistant Director for Accounting and Finance reports to the Executive Director of the Faculty-Student Association and is responsible for detailed record keeping, financial analysis, and improving overall financial practices. This includes general accounting functions, financial reporting and budget management. Work may include accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, cash receipts, general ledger and the operation of the data processing equipment.

General Responsibilities

  • Make cash and check deposits for payments
  • Respond to student needs and inquiries
  • Manage accounts payable
  • Manage cash deposits.
  • Complete payroll processing, including timesheets and HSA and retirement contributions (bi-weekly)
  • Maintain meal plan database including entry and holds.
  • Run updated residential student roster reports
  • Assist with billing and collection for residential students as requested, including preparation of reports and letters
  • Note taker for FSA Board meetings, maintain Board materials, including Google Drive folder and Board email list
  • Develop, review, and manage policy and procedure documents
  • Manage payroll records, including hiring documents, in conjunction with Human Resources and Executive Director
  • Benefits administration, in conjunction with Human Resources and Executive Director
  • Communicate with contract vendors to ensure proper invoicing/payables
  • FSA web presence administration
  • Complete end of month closing process
  • Prepare final financial statements
  • Facilitate audit and respond to auditor requests
  • Assist with budget preparation
  • Prepare housing move in rosters and checklists (Sep & Jan)
  • Complete invoices for meal plans and housing fees (Sep & Jan)
  • Return housing deposits in a timely manner (Jan & May)
  • Other duties as assigned by Executive Director or FSA Board
  • Odyssey, MICROS, GET, Ugryd and ID Works system administration

Disclosure: The successful candidate will be employed by the FacultyStudent Association of SUNY Adirondack, not directly by SUNY Adirondack.

Compensation:  This is a 12month, fulltime position with an anticipated salary range of $45,000-$50,000, commensurate with experience.  The salary is complemented by a generous benefit package.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • 2-6 years’ progressive experience in Accounting
  • Strong financial, organizational, management and teamwork skills
  • Solid administration and computer skills including desktop accounting and advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Willingness and desire to work respectfully with people of diverse backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Sage 50 (Peachtree) accounting software

Anticipated Start:  Desired start date is January 2, 2018, but negotiable based on selected candidates availability.
