Assistant Professor of IT Networking and Security

Assistant /Associate Professor of IT Networking/Security (Tenure Track)

The IT Networking Program at SUNY Adirondack announces the opening of a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor.

The primary instructional responsibilities for this position include teaching, curriculum development, and laboratory support for IT Network Cyber Security, IT Computer Networking and within our College in the High School Career Academy/PTECH Program. Secondary instructional responsibilities will be determined by experience and knowledge in electronics.

Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of contemporary and critical issues in current and emerging network security technologies. Additionally, candidates must demonstrate innovative thinking in course and curriculum development, project management skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills; positive attitude and be a self-starter that requires minimal supervision; and possess a team approach to problem solving.

Service on college wide committees, industry committees, supporting multiple laboratory environments, travel and presentations, and student advisement as well as other duties may be required as defined by the faculty contract and Cisco Networking Academy contract.

Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy; familiarity with the use of technology in the classroom; laboratory support experience; teaching strategies with a focus on student centered learning; excellent interpersonal skills; Cisco Networking Academy Instructor credentials, and a willingness to work in a collegial setting within the division.

Requirement Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher (Masters Preferred) in Informational Security Systems, Computer Networking, Computer Science or a closely related field
  • Cisco CCNA R&S Certified
  • Teaching experience
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in Computer Networking
  • One or more of the following Information Security Certifications: Security+, CNA Security, CEH, CISSP, CISA, SANS GIAC.
  • Proficiency teaching in a Windows computer environment

Placement on a salary scale reflects individual degrees/experience.  The salary range is $43,580 - $45,095 (2019 – 2020 faculty schedule) and is complemented by an excellent benefits package. Summer teaching and overload are additional.
