This course begins with the basics of HVAC/R and moves to an in-depth breakdown of HVAC/R knowledge needed to build a solid technical foundation. Content focuses on various topics, including but not limited to:

- Refrigeration and principles of thermodynamics

- Reading and interpretation of wiring schematics

Notary Public License Exam Preparation — Self-Paced, Online Course
Available Feb. 14 to May 15
This online, self-paced course is offered through the Brightspace learning management system and is designed to teach essential information needed for the New York State Notary exam. In addition, this course thoroughly prepares participants for the duties and functions of a Notary Public officer. They gain insight into what a Notary Public’s key responsibilities and limitations are, as well as some best practices. Topics include notary concepts, definition review, sample forms and notary law subsection review.
Please note: The Notary Public exam will not be given during this workshop. To successfully complete this course and prepare for the exam, students are required to complete the reading, discussion and quiz activities in the course syllabus.

This Five-Hour Prelicensing Course is required by New York State Department of Motor Vehicles for all applicants who want to take a road test for a driver’s license. A MV-278 completion certificate needed for road test appointments will be issued at the conclusion of this class.

- A New York state Learner’s Permit (photo ID) is required.

Join us for one of the fastest-growing sports in the United States: pickleball. Life Chronicles: Exploring Vision & Voice Via Journaling NEW!

The Science of Everything

Join us for a hands-on, interactive experience at the SUNY Adirondack arboretum to develop essential tree identification skills. Shushan Covered Bridge Museum Tour

Shushan Covered Bridge Museum, Shushan
Shushan Covered Bridge Museum is housed in a covered bridge built in 1858 by Stevens Bros. The 161-foot-long bridge is of Town Lattice Truss construction, one of about 20 wooden-bridge truss types developed during the 19th century. Patented Jan. 1, 1820, by Ithiel Town, an architect from Bridgeport, Connecticut, it was extensively promoted throughout the South. By 1840, it had become one of a few standard types chosen by local builders because of its ease of construction. The bridge was abandoned by the county in 1962 and sat in disrepair for more than 10 years until it was saved by Shushan Covered Bridge Association, which converted it into a museum.
A collection of period machinery and farm implements, many in working order, are used by visitors for hands-on demonstrations. A few yards from the bridge entrance stands a one-room schoolhouse that was in use from 1852 to 1943. The school is open to visitors and furnished with desks and texts from the 19th century.

A Walk Through Warrensburg’s History: Early Residential & Civic District

This tour takes you through the main residential area of early Warrensburg, where many affluent business owners lived and entertained. Living on elm tree-lined streets were doctors, lawyers, and owners of major industries and businesses. Learn about the history of people who lived there and architecture of the buildings. The tour will be approximately one mile, round trip; accessible parking is available on some streets.
Please note: Participants should wear proper clothing for this activity and dress for the weather. A water bottle and sunglasses are recommended.

Oldest Saratoga Walking Tour

This tour examines how Saratoga started in two areas that grew together. Beginning and ending at the corner of Broadway and Division Street, we will see Saratoga’s oldest neighborhood, including some of the city’s oldest houses, churches, hotels and boardinghouses, and a building believed to be the city’s oldest structure.

This walking tour follows Broadway from Bridge Street to Mill and Liberty streets. The village's central business district was a perfect example of a 1950s "Happy Days"-style community, but it is gradually disappearing. There are a few homesteads still standing. Reflect on the evolution of Fort Edward from a typical New England town to a compact canyon of buildings housing all manner of businesses and services for a bustling community.

Discover Hartford’s rich history and step into the past with a guided tour of two remarkable buildings, each offering a unique window into Hartford’s heritage.
Begin your journey at the museum house, which traces the story from the Provincial Patent granted to 26 French and Indian War officers, through founding of the settlement, rise of early industries and creation of social clubs. Learn how the Industrial Revolution transformed local farming and shaped post-Civil War society.
Continue your exploration at the Civil War Enlistment Center and uncover personal stories of men who joined Washington County’s 123rd Regiment of NYS Volunteers. Follow their 3,000-mile journey through diaries, artifacts and weaponry, gaining insight into their daily lives and experiences. While information on specific battles is available for review and discussion, this tour focuses on individuals, their equipment and the legacy they left behind.
Please note: The buildings are 200 years old; they have uneven floors and no heat. Please wear study footwear. The buildings have entry ramps for wheelchair access.

Participants who successfully complete this course earn a two-year SOLO certification, which is nationally recognized. This 16-hour program, held over the course of two days, meets ACA guidelines and focuses on:

- Survival skills
- Soft tissue injuries
- Medical emergencies
