SUNY Adirondack basketball has received a number of honors in the last week.

Women’s Basketball Coach John Quattrocchi has been named Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year by the Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference, and three of his players have been selected for All-Conference teams.

"I am certainly humbled to be recognized by my peers. However, I have not lost site of the fact that to be a successful coach you need capable players, of which we had many,” said Quattrocchi.

Kayla Stockman has been named a member of the Second Team and Brianna McKinney and Amber Yarter were placed on the Third Team. Stockman has a 12.6 points-per-game average, with 9.1 rebounds per game. McKinney has a 17.1 points-per-game average, and Yarter has 9.3 points per game, with a 3.6 assist-per-game average.

"I congratulate our award winners and share these honors with our entire team of hard-working dedicated young ladies,” Quattrocchi said.

Coach Quattrocchi and his team also earned a sixth seed in the NJCAA Region III tournament. This is the first regional placement for the women's program since 2001. The women will play at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Finger Lakes Community College.

"We are proud of Coach Quattrocchi's success in leading a talented group of women on and off the court. All of the ladies work hard and deserve the accolades that come with winning. Congratulations to our players and best wishes for continued success,” said SUNY Adirondack President Dr. Kristine Duffy.

In addition to the honors for the women’s team, men's basketball player Shea Irish received a Third Team bid by the Mountain Valley Collegiate Conference.
