Barre Class
September 13 to November 15
Wednesdays | 5 to 6pm | Queensbury Campus

What is Balancé Barre? A trendy, new and effective group fitness class like no other! Barre-based classes use a combination of postures inspired by ballet and other disciplines like yoga and Pilates. The ballet barre, or chairs, are used as props to balance while doing exercises that focus on isometric strength training. Isometric training is holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. You will feel the burn! The major benefits of barre are improved posture, muscle definition, weight loss, increased flexibility and reduced stress. You will notice improved balance and stability as well. Everyone will leave class feeling challenged and invigorated!

You'll start with a warm-up and sequence of upper-body exercises, which include free weights, push-ups, planks and other moves to target the biceps, triceps, chest and back muscles. Next, you'll use the ballet barre (or chair) and your own bodyweight for resistance to focus on the legs, thighs and seat muscles. Your core will be engaged the entire class and then targeted at the end with a series of mat-based abdominal exercises. For the cool down, you'll go through a series of stretches to increase flexibility and allow your muscles to recover.

Plié, relevé and tendu your way to better health! Look and feel your best with Balancé Barre!

An Ayurvedic Guide to Healthy Living
October 10
Tuesday | 6:30 to 8:30pm | Queensbury Campus

An Ayurvedic proverb dating back 5,000 years states, “When diet is wrong, medicine is of no use. When diet is correct, medicine is of no need.” All too often we find ourselves not feeling quite right, while nothing seems to be medically wrong. Ayurveda teaches one’s unique constitution (doshas) and our relationship to nature and the five elements. This, in conjunction with mealtime planning for the seasons, enables us to make the shift from feeling just “OK” to feeling healthy and vibrant with energy.

Spirituality for the 21st Century: Reincarnation and Past Lives
September 21 to October 5
Thursdays | 6:30 to 8:30pm | Queensbury Campus

Not a religion course, this course explores the research of psychiatrists, psychologists, medical doctors and scientists into the realm of spirituality. We look at near-death experiences, past lives, regression hypnosis, reincarnation, quantum physics and consciousness, children’s past lives, soulmates, etc. We explore questions like: Have you ever experienced “déjà vu” – that feeling that you “know” someone you have just met for the first time? Do you have unexplained pains, anxieties or phobias that do not respond to conventional treatments? Could you have lived before and could your past life (or lives) be influencing your present life? Does “consciousness” pervade the universe? Are we truly all interconnected? Is there any reason to believe in “divinity?” Learn how children ages 2-6 provide some of the most compelling evidence for reincarnation.  Learn how past-life regression hypnosis often reveals that soulmates enjoyed a relationship in one or more of their past lives. Experience stories that may change your life.

Instructor: Louis Mondor

Spirituality for the 21st Century: Life Between Life
October 19 to November 2
Thursdays | 6:30 to 8:30pm | Queensbury Campus

Not a religion course, this course continues to explore the research of psychiatrists, psychologists and medical doctors into the realm of spirituality with a special focus on the afterlife. We look at questions like: What does it feel like to die? What do we see and feel right after death? What is the spirit world really like? Will we see our loved ones there? Will we see our animal friends, our pets? Are we judged? By whom? Is there a hell? What do we do as souls in the “interlife?” Will we learn the purpose of life? Will we “see” our Creator? Do we plan our next lives — the time, the place and the reason for our return? Do we choose our parents? Our life situation? Our bodies? What does it feel like to be “reborn?” All of these questions and others will be explored in this intensive presentation based on actual case histories of past-life regression subjects who have recalled their “life between life.”
