Motorcycle Courses

Motorcycle Instruction

Learn how to ride a motorcycle with courses taught by the nationally certified Adirondacks and Beyond Motorcycle Safety Rider coaches. Course offerings, occurring mid-week and on the weekends, from April through October include:

Introductory Motorcycle Experience (IME)

The IME is a three-hour class designed to give absolute novice riders a chance to get on a motorcycle and get it going, under power, with the student in the saddle, in control. (It is not designed to teach a student how to ride).   The class is a combination of discussions about motorcycles, rider safety, and what is it like to be on a bike and in control.   This is a great warm up to the BRC for License course and is not a licensing class.

No permit is required and there are only three students in each class.   Free loaner bikes and helmets are supplied.

Basic RiderCourse (BRC for License)

The BRC for License is for entry-level students wanting to learn the basics of safe motorcycle riding, want to explore what motorcycle riding is all about, simply need to get a license, or have not ridden for years and simply want to scrape off the rust and clean out the cobwebs.  A NYS Motorcycle Learners Permit or NYS “M” endorsed license is required to take this class.  Active military or those from out of state need only their military ID or state of residence drivers’ license.

Successful completion of this class earns the student a NYS Motorcycle Road test waiver. (No DMV Riding test).  Courses are taught over one evening and two days.  Free loaner bikes and helmets are supplied.

Basic RiderCourse II (BRC II)

For graduates of the BRC for License, the BRC II is the next step in your riding education. This is a one-day class taken on your motorcycle. Skill drills covering braking, swerving, and cornering will be covered. This course is also the perfect “first class” experience for experienced riders that have had no formal training.  A motorcycle license is required; there is no license component to this class. This is great course for groups.

Advanced RiderCourse (ARC)

This ARC class is for experienced riders who want to move their riding skills to the “next level”.  A one day class with both classroom and range components (with an emphasis on riding.)  This class exposes the experienced rider to upper level skill sets not available in previous classes. Students must be licensed and will ride their own street legal motorcycles.
