Greater Glens Falls Transit System to offer free bus rides for SUNY Adirondack students, faculty and staff for 2013-2014 school year
(QUEENSBURY, NY – June 27, 2013) – Students, faculty and staff of SUNY Adirondack will be able to ride for free on any of the Greater Glens Falls Transit (GGFT) System’s regularly operated fixed bus routes for the 2013-2014 academic year, from Tuesday, September 3, 2013, through Thursday, May 15, 2014, with presentation of a valid stickered college ID upon boarding.
College and GGFT officials recently signed a one-year agreement for the service. The service is sponsored by the SUNY Adirondack Student Senate and the Faculty-Student Association of SUNY Adirondack.
“This will be a wonderful opportunity for our students, faculty, and staff,” said Jason Enser, dean for student affairs at the college. “With the opening of our student housing facility this fall, we will encourage everyone in the college community to take advantage of this service.”
“We hope to continue this free service beyond the contract year is there is sufficient ridership,” said GGFT transportation director Scott Sopczyk. “GGFT will be adding four Saturday routes between the college and local shopping areas, and we’ll maintain our evening service routes during the school year.”
New students can obtain IDs by visiting the SUNY Adirondack Student Activities Office. Returning students, faculty and staff can update their current IDs with a current sticker by visiting the Business Office in Warren Hall or the Student Activities Office.
