When can I apply for Student Housing?

New students must apply for admission before applying for housing. Start your application to the college at connect.sunyacc.edu/apply/. Have questions about applying to SUNY Adirondack? Contact College Access at 518-743-2264.

Once students are accepted to SUNY Adirondack, they can apply for housing at https://connect.sunyacc.edu/register/housing-application, complete the online form and pay a $250 housing deposit online or via check or money order payable for SUNY Adirondack. Apply now.

Is a housing deposit required?

A $250 deposit is required to reserve your space in the Residence Hall. The deposit is refundable only if housing is not offered to a student.

Can financial aid be used to cover the cost of student housing?

Yes. In addition to tuition and fees, most forms of financial aid can be used to cover living expenses, including campus housing and meal plans. The SUNY Adirondack Financial Aid Office will notify you of your eligibility for aid after reviewing your application. Financial aid cannot cover a housing deposit. Please speak with the Financial Aid Office to find out available options, as each student’s situation is different. The Financial Aid Office is in Warren Hall and can also be reached at 518-743-2223. 

What activities are offered in the Residence Hall?

The Residence Hall Assocation and our staff of RAs (resident assistants) provide a variety of programs. The Office of Student Engagement & Diversity Initiatives also offers activities and campus-wide events. Any student can be a member of the Residence Hall Association and help plan events for the building.

Can I bring my car?

There are a limited number of parking spaces available for residential students. Register your car. Students can also use the public bus system, which stops on campus, free.

How are housing accommodations determined?

Housing is available on a first-come basis. A waiting list is developed for students who sign up after the complex reaches capacity.

How big is the Residence Hall?

SUNY Adirondack's Residence Hall houses a maximum of 413 students.

How many people live in each room?

SUNY Adirondack's modern suite format accommodates three, four or five students per suite. Most suites house four students, two in each bedroom.

Are residential suites furnished?

Each suite is furnished with a standard twin bed, desk, chair, dresser and wardrobe for each student, and a couch, chair, end table, entertainment stand and a small table with chairs.

Are cable TV and internet include in the total cost?

Wireless high-speed internet and DirectTV are include in campus living costs.

What other facilities are in the Residence Hall?

In addition to suites, the Residence Hall includes classrooms, a state-of-the-art fitness facility and a laundry room (a $30 laundry fee is included in the student housing bill, but the college does not provide detergenet, dryer sheets, etc.).

What kind of staff are in the building?

SUNY Adirondack has 24-hour on-campus security, which is based in the Residence Hall. In addition, the building has two live-in professional staff and nine student RAs.

Are pets allowed?

There are no pets allowed in the Residence Hall. Need medical accommodations? Apply here.

Can my spouse or child live with me?

The Residence Hall is for full-time SUNY Adirondack students.

The Office of Residence Life will:

  1. Create an atmosphere conducive to learning, provide referral to appropriate academic support services and provide and assist in the academic advising process in the Residence Hall.
  2. Implement and foster a comprehensive educational component supporting students by providing programming enhancing understanding of cultural, ethnic, gender, physical, racial, sexual orientation and religious differences.
  3. Create and maintain a residence hall community in which students take responsibility for comprehending and enriching their environment while respecting the rights and needs of others within the SUNY Adirondack community.
  4. Provide students with affordable and comfortable on-campus housing accommodations.
  5. Facilitate the adjustment and transition of new students to SUNY Adirondack through various programs (e.g., new student orientation).
  6. Provide a disciplinary structure promoting and encouraging student accountability and responsibility.
  7. Provide values-based educational programming to raise student awareness of social, emotional, mental and physical health, substance abuse and responsible sexual behavior.
  8. Stimulate and encourage student participation in campus and community organizations.
  9. Strengthen recruitment and selection procedures to attract a high-quality and diverse professional and para-professional staff.
  10. Provide a comprehensive training and a developmental program for professional and para-professional staff.
  11. Have professional staff stay current with trends in higher education by keeping pace with student development theory through publications, attendance at conferences and participation in professional organizations.
  12. Provide a comprehensive ongoing evaluation/assessment of the housing and residence life operation including its personnel, programs and procedures.

Res Hall closes for spring break: Friday, March 8. Students must vacate the building by 6 p.m.

Students return from spring break/Res. Hall opens: Sunday, March 17, anytime after noon

Res Hall closes for Summer break: Friday, May 10 (students must vacate the building within 24 hours after their last final or by 2 p.m. Friday, May 10). Those participating in commencement must move out of the building immediately after graduation Saturday, May 11.

SUNY Adirondack's Residence Hall suites include a couch, armchair, dining table with two chairs, an entertainment stand, end table, cable and internet. The kitchen area has cabinets and a sink. Each bedroom has a twin bed and mattress, armoire, desk and chair for each student. Each bathroom has a double-vanity sink, toilet, shower and toilet paper holder.

Students must bring:

  • Culinary Arts knives (must store them at the Culinary building)
  • Dart boards with sharp-point darts
  • Drug-related paraphernalia, illegal drugs, non-prescribed narcotics and/or drug-related devices
  • E-cigarettes and charging devices for e-cigarettes
  • Halogen light bulbs
  • Hoverboards should not be used or stored

All residential students are also responsible for a $30 laundry fee and a $30 Residence Hall fee. 

All students are required to purchase a meal plan. There are four meal plan options available:

Freedom A: 200 meals per semester, $125 points (Cost: $2,180/semester)

Freedom B: 150 meals per semester, $425 points (Cost: $2,180/semester)

Freedom C: 125 meals per semester, $575 points (Cost: $2,180/semester)

Freedom D: 240 meals per semester, $125 points (Cost: $2,585/semester)

 *Points can be used in the cafeteria and Einstein’s Bagels Cafe located in Scoville Hall.
