Two people work on an assignment in the Center for Reading and Writing

Center for Reading and Writing

SUNY Adirondack's Center for Reading and Writing (CRW) helps you develop the skills needed for college-level learning.

Visitors can work on any stage of their reading or writing projects — understanding the assignment, brainstorming ideas and proofreading a final draft of a written paper. The CRW is located on the main floor of Scoville Learning Center and at Saratoga Tutoring Center.

Services

The Center for Reading and Writing is here to help. Though we recommend scheduling appointments ahead of time, the CRW does also offer drop-in services. If a consultant is available, they can sit down with clients for brief sessions. The busiest times are typically the week before and including midterms and finals, so please plan ahead.

Writing consultants are available to assist with any writing project, at any stage, for any level of writer. No matter what course an assignment is for, we’re here to help. Bring the assignment sheet or instructor directions, and we can assist with brainstorming, outlining, draft feedback, as well as editing, revision and final polishing.

Reading academic texts requires a different skill set than reading fiction. Let our consultants share tips, techniques and skills to make those texts easier to understand.

Have a speech you need to practice? CRW consultants can assist with outlining, note cards and even practice. Let us be your audience and provide you with tips and techniques to prepare you.
