“I wasn’t even sure what EOP was when my guidance counselor suggested I apply. I just decided to give it a chance—and honestly, it turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve made.
EOP has been like a home away from home for me. There’s always someone there — whether I’m having a great day or going through something tough. They never turn me away or tell me to come back later. They really want to see me succeed and put me in the best situation possible.
I’m from Albany, and coming here, I liked how different it felt. It’s smaller, but in a good way. You walk outside and you see familiar faces everywhere. Over time, you build real relationships — with professors, with classmates, with everyone. It’s a tight-knit community, and that makes a big difference.
I’ve been here for three years studying Outdoor Education. I got into snowboarding around my senior year of high school, and I fell in love with it. That’s what pushed me toward this path. I want to use recreation to help people — especially kids and individuals recovering from injuries — through therapeutic activities.
Outside of class, I’m on the basketball team.
After graduation, I’m planning to transfer into a bachelor’s program — possibly at SUNY Cortland — and continue studying something in therapeutic recreation or sports management.
Looking back, I’m really glad I took that chance. This place, these people — they’ve made a big impact on me.”
