SUNY Adirondack offers a two-year Associate in Science (AS) degree in Accounting that is specifically designed for transfer to a four-year institution. At least half this degree program can be completed online.

The U.S. Department of Labor predicts that employment of accountants and auditors is projected to grow 10 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. In general, employment growth of accountants and auditors is expected to be closely tied to the health of the overall economy. As a growing professional field, graduates who apply themselves can pursue four key career paths in managerial, financial, taxation, and accounting areas across private, public and government sectors.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This well-rounded Accounting program helps students learn to interpret and communicate financial information around an organization’s economic events, making it truly the “heart of every business.” Students at SUNY Adirondack also learn that accounting is about problem solving, effective communication and providing strategic guidance.

Specialized courses in taxation, law, ethics, finance, management and intermediate accounting are the core of this degree and are balanced with use of the latest technology and best practices to help students secure careers upon graduation.
