MISSION
SUNY Adirondack Continuing Education is committed to providing a comprehensive variety of high quality programs that reflect the learning interests of our local population. We offer non-credit courses, workshops, teleconferences, seminars and webinars intended to provide opportunities for skills enhancement and professional development to the public and private sectors and the community.
OVERVIEW
Continuing Education is one of the largest providers of education and training to the area business community. Some of our partners are Finch Paper, Delcath, Glens Falls Hospital, Bard, Saint Gobain, Irving Tissue and many others.
We offer training or individuals to get a Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor Credential (CASAS-T), and upon successful completion of the course, students can sit for the NYS Certification Test.
We also provide webinars to area schools for students K-12 who have an interest in science, a week long Winter Enrichment program and every summer a 3 week Summer Enrichment Program. Our emphasis is conveying science and math are fun and engaging!
Our Senior Lecture Series are some of the most popular in the area and sell out fast!
Finally, we offer : Yoga,Cardio Fitness, Memoir Writing, Motorcycle Riding, Gluten Free Cooking, and much more...
Community Connections
Continuing Education professionals meet on a regular basis with various community groups including the Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce (ARCC), Adirondack Business Development Partnership,Washington and Warren County Local Development Corporations, Workforce Investment Board, One-Stop Centers of Warren, Washington, and Saratoga counties, BOCES, and the Interagency Council.
Program Areas
SUNY Adirondack Continuing Education is divided into two program areas :
- Workforce / Professional Development
- Community Outreach
These areas provide educational opportunities for individuals to enhance their professional and personal lives.
In an effort to accommodate individuals who are unable to attend non-credit courses on campus, Continuing Education also offers online programs and a site in Wilton, NY. We will also accommodate groups in other settings.
DEVELOPMENT OF NEW COURSES
Short duration, non-credit programs are cooperative efforts between SUNY ADK Continuing Education, business and industry, community agencies, area professionals, and the community at large. In an effort to respond to the interests and needs of the community, Continuing Education is always looking for new course ideas and proposals to teach.
