Media Arts applies new technologies and channels to produce video, print, audio and other forms of digital media. Media artists are sought after throughout various industries due to their specific talents and experience in the ever-evolving digital space.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Media Arts students learn how to turn their ideas into reality. Studying the history and culture behind media arts lays the foundation for advanced courses across the spectrum of art, design, photography, videography, communication and the use of cutting-edge software and equipment.

Further specialization is available as part of the two-year Applied Associate degree, including choices for students across the spectrum of course offerings in Media Arts.

Program Learning Outcomes

  1. Demonstrate a proficient knowledge of the Macintosh Operating System.
  2. Create various forms of computer graphic imagery using industry standard software.
  3. Create imagery for a commercial purpose and/or personal expression using a digital single lens reflex camera.
  4. Discuss the history of the Media Arts including styles, genres, and prominent artists.
  5. Demonstrate proficiency in presenting and critiquing various forms of imagery objectively.
  6. Create a portfolio/resume for employment and/or transfer opportunities.
