A path weaves through trees in SUNY Adirondack's Arboretum.

Arboretum

SUNY Adirondack's Arboretum features 113 varieties of trees and shrubs.

This two-acre garden is located on the north end of the 640 Bay Road, Queensbury, campus.

Established in 1992, the Arboretum is comprised of native and non-native woody plants donated to the college. Built by volunteers and private funds, these plants honor the contributions of faculty and staff, and stand in memory of loved ones.

The specimens were selected to represent a wide variety of trees  the casual observer might not often encounter. In this respect, the Arboretum serves as an educational display, an idea bank for gardeners or home owners, and, of course, a pleasant place to stroll and reflect.

All specimens are labeled with common and scientific names, and each tree is labeled with the name of the person to whom it was dedicated.

The Arboretum is open from sunrise to sunset every day. There is no admission fee. Parking is available in the college's north lot. The Arboretum is maintained by volunteers. If you would like to help take care of this unique resource, contact the college. No experience is necessary, just an enthusiasm for trees.

Agricultural Business

SUNY Adirondack has an Agricultural Business degree program, to prepare the future of farm and food systems.

Vegetables grow in the college's high tunnel on the Queensbury campus.
